Independent carpet complaint inspections
Shading, pile crush, visible seams, rucking, shedding and colour differences. Many are normal characteristics, some are faults. We tell you which.
- Shading or watermarking (often a characteristic, not a fault)
- Pile crush from heavy traffic or wrong grade
- Poorly placed or badly made seams
- Rucking from inadequate stretching
- Manufacturing defects
What we do
We examine the carpet against the manufacturer's information and industry guidance, check the fitting and underlay, and explain clearly whether there is a fault and what should happen.
We cover the whole UK: London, South East, Midlands, North West, Yorkshire, North East, South West, East of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland.
Frequently asked questions
- Is shading a fault?
- Usually it is a recognised characteristic of cut pile carpet, but there are exceptions. We explain which applies to yours.
- Will the retailer accept the report?
- Our reports are independent and evidence-based, which is what retailers and ombudsmen look for.
